This is my favorite sailing video perhaps because of the music and speed of the boat but the technical comments below are interesting that I must read up on them. I've only sailed hobbie cats and recently a 35' sailing boat but this looks pretty fast cutting through the waves like it does.

Now that is what I call sailing.

it has two jibs because it is lot of freee space between sail and mast

What boat is that? A sloop? But why two jibs? Im confuses *-*
zanderhowell (December 31, 1969 at 3:59 pm)
@jbarrystan no it isnt. the boat achieves suffiecient speed to plane.. the kanting keel just alows the boat to increase sail area while maintaining sufficient rightening abilities..zxx

@jbarrystan The keel foil actually has very little hydrodynamic effect. As a canting keel, the primary function of the keel fin is to support hanging a very heavy bulb to windward. The dagger boards that the VO70's have are what keep the boats going straight. As far as the lift and how they fly, these boats are built with reaching in mind. there are ballast tanks in the aft quarters to help move weight. Also the boats are built with a higher volume in the bow to avoid burying of the nose.

It's the foil on the keel that lifts the boat's hull/water line above the water reducing drag and increasing speed. |
